From the Ground Up: A Comprehensive Guide to Building Your Own Land Rover Defender
A land rover defender is an excellent vehicle to build with LEGO Technic, thanks to its articulation and design. This set also includes a lot of new parts, including the first olive green elements available in a LEGO Technic model.
It is a heavy build, and it will take a bit of patience and precision to complete, but the end result will be worth it. The set features working steering, a 4-speed sequential gearbox, All Wheel Drive, 3 differentials and a detailed in-line 6-cylinder engine, along with a realistic winch.
Chemical firm Ineos has reportedly thrown its hat into the ring to build an off-roader inspired by the original Defender. Known as the Grenadier, the project is spearheaded by Britain’s richest man Jim Ratcliffe and will start production in 2020.
The Grenadier will be based on a re-engineered Defender 110 chassis that has been converted to a chassis cab with a range of upgrades to improve performance and off-road capabilities. It will feature a Warn winch, 6-point roll cage and a bespoke Land Rover Defender 90 front bumper, along with 18″ Kahn 1983 wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich all-terrain tires.
